Yacht Club Santo Stefano

The Yacht Club Santo Stefano is a sports association founded in 1960. The first seat was in an old brigantine, called Spluga, moored in the old dock of Porto del Valle in Porto Santo Stefano. This floating residence, over the years became the meeting point of many people who at that time frequented the Argentario promontory, including the Royals of the Netherlands. The company headquarters in 1970 was moved to the Villa Cortesini, located in Pozzarello.

The sailing school with its 430 students was first in Tuscany and second in Italy in 2016 for the number of cadet students and registered juniors, and was awarded in 2014, 2015 and 2016 of the FIV-CONI Sports Merit.

The club leader consists of a blue triangle with four stars, green, red, yellow, white inside.

In addition to the winter, Italian and world championships, the most important events are the Pasquavela, one of the most important regattas in the Italian sailing sports scene, which takes place on Easter weekend and the Panerai Argentario Sailing Week, which takes place in the harbor setting old and home to classic, vintage, spirit of tradition and metric classes with crews from all over the world. It has seen the participation of many internationally renowned sailors, such as German Frers, Dennis Conner, Doug Peterson and Olin Stephens, all included in the America’s Cup Hall of Fame.

The club is also among the organizers of the Trofeo dei Reali Presidi of Spain, which takes place in the waters of the Tuscan Archipelago.
