Events in Argentario

In the 1960s, the Argentario Festival took place in Porto Santo Stefano, divided into a series of artistic events. It included the Argentario Journalism Award, among the most prestigious in Italy, which saw the participation of numerous writers and authoritative names of national journalism, including: Carlo Cassola, Vasco Pratolini, Michele Prisco.

From 2002 to 2015 C.I.M.A. Concerts in Monte Argentario, an International Festival of classical music born in collaboration with the Municipality of Monte Argentario with the aim of promoting talented young artists and musicians from all over the world. It was chaired by Jorge Chaminé and Princess Christina of the Netherlands.

From 2009 to 2015 took place in Porto Santo Stefano, Argentario Dance Festival, an international dance competition dedicated to young promises of classical and contemporary dance from all over the world. It was presided by Sergio Japino.

From 1999 to 2009, Arie di Mare, a festival promoted by the Municipality, was held in Porto Santo Stefano, with the support of the Province of Grosseto and the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze Foundation, one of the most significant of the Argentario. The multidisciplinary event was each year characterized by a precise thematic reference. Directed by Pamela Villoresi, it counted on the planning and organizational collaboration of the Teatro Metastasio di Prato. After five years of interruption, from 2014 it was held for two years in the town of Orbetello. It was suspended in 2016.
