The sphinx of the Argentario

These are pre-Etruscan works discovered in 1955 at Punta Ciana, in the extreme southern sector of the Argentario. The research brought to light a huge rock about ten meters high with distinctly sketched facial features and the classic Egyptian headdress, believed to be linked to the figure of the god Thot. The findings, considered important by the experts of the sector, were the work of Costantino Cattoi, former colonel of the Regia Aeronautica, collaborator of Gabriele D’Annunzio and esteemed friend of Italo Balbo. The scholar came into contact with some internationally renowned experts such as the American anthropologist George Hunt Williamson, the Peruvian esoteric Daniel Ruzo and the French Denis Saurat, who even working independently, came to the same conclusions, linking the Italian rock sculptures, to the similar discoveries in Marcahuasi in Peru, reinforcing their conviction on the existence of a link between the Argentario promontory, as a surviving part of the fabulous Atlantis, and the distant Peru, challenging the religious and cultural establishment tacitly accepted by all.
