The tower of Poggio Natalino is a disused maritime traffic light located in the municipality of monte Argentario. Its location is at the top of the homonymous hillock overlooking the west coast of the Argentario promontory, just east of the Cacciarella tower.
The tower was built in the late nineteenth century when the whole area was now under the jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Italy. Its construction was intended to perform sighting functions, integrating with the fort of Pozzarello (built in the same era) and with the Tower of Punta Telegrafo of Napoleonic origin. In addition, at the tower was activated a traffic light station for signaling at night, in order to report the corresponding coastal stretch to vessels in transit. During the last century the tower was gradually abandoned by the military sighting and also by the traffic lights, following the activation of the most modern and functional Lividonia lighthouse in a location closer to the coast; later, the structure was sold to private individuals and turned into an agricultural annex.
Of the tower of Poggio Natalino, which originally presented a rectangular plan arranged on several levels, only the wall remains of the base remain, following the collapse of the upper part due to the negligence that has continued over time, and its complete transformation occurred after the final disposal.
